What to Expect from a Selections Meeting with Me

Let’s talk about what happens in a selections meeting, because honestly, these meetings can run about three hours, and it’s fair to let you know that up front. We’re diving into every detail for your new home, so it’s time well spent.

Before you even sit down, the groundwork is already in place. We’ve met and talked through a mood board that sets the overall direction. I’ve pre-pulled options based on your style and preferences, meaning the room is ready with choices that already fit the vision we’re working toward, not everything under the sun. You’re not starting from scratch.

Here’s how I think about it. We generally begin with what I consider one of the most significant decisions: the countertop, which I see as a piece of jewelry for the home. Once that’s settled, everything else can gracefully flow around it. We then move on to tiles, cabinet finishes, flooring, and hardware, ensuring each element complements the next.

The reason this takes three hours isn’t due to indecision; it’s because a home consists of an enormous array of finishes. We’re checking each one against the others, confirming it all comes together cohesively. Throughout, I’m sharing my opinion, drawn from numerous finished houses, to guide you without ever dictating. It’s your home, after all.

When you’ll walk out, most people feel a bit tired but lighter at heart. What seemed like a daunting task becomes a series of achievable decisions, each one bringing your dream closer to reality.

If you’re planning a home on Lake Texoma, I’d like to hear about it. Let’s talk about your home and how we can make it truly yours.

If you’re building with Ceci Bates, this is the part I take off your plate — the stone, the tile, the stain, the paint, and all the small decisions that have to agree with each other. Tell me what you’re working on and where you’ve got stuck. No pressure, just a conversation.
